Response to Gov Perdue claims of teachers jobs being cut.

April 17, 2011
Response from Rep. Glen Bradley
While I’m not on the Appropriations subcommittee dealing with education, what I’ve seen of the GOP’s recommended education budget not only cuts less than Governor Perdue recommended, but it leaves the K-12 teacher budget ENTIRELY intact.  They cut grades 2 and 3 teacher assistants, but left it fungible so grades K and 1 teacher assistants could help in 2nd and 3rd grades.  They cut administration departments, and something like 2% off of transportation.
Nothing I have seen of the proposed Education budget would even remotely cut the 21,000 teaching jobs like the Governor and the DPNC claim they do…unless we have 21,000 TA’s in 2nd and 3rd grade alone?  If so no wonder we’re in trouble!

The DPNC has taken to outright fabrications now that their spin-doctoring has failed.
